Modeling Reality With Virtual Worlds

With the advancement of technology, it is quite simple to live in another world. The virtual reality world is your great escape from the torture of present life.

When parents hear the words video games, they think it is all bad. I mean virtual reality fits into that category. But it is not all that bad. According to the CNN article, Naughty Auties is a site that helps those with autism. It creates a world where they can interact with others with the same condition and also learn more about it. It helps get those people out of their comfort zones. Also, virtual reality allows you to communicate with others. This is just another tool of social networking.

Virtual reality does have cons to it. You may be in reality but your brain may be in virtual reality. You may do things that you wouldn't do in reality like beat someone or say something inappropriately. Another issue with virtual reality is the fact that dangerous predators can communicate your kids. Webkinz made the creation of avatars easy for kids. But what is dangerous is the fact that they can communicate with some pervs. Parents must keep close watch.

The virtual reality world will phase out soon. "The Sims" isn't even popular really anymore. Whae is so cool about virtual reality is the fact the makers are so creative. The places look so real. It made me want to enter this fake world. But, thank goodness I'm not a gamer and will not enter this world.

  1. Hi Gary,

I won't be entering the virtual world as an avatar either. I'm glad you said that you think it will phase out. I *hope* it will because I think it's just a bit weird and is some sort of substitute for real life.

It's sort of how I feel about 3-D television that people are saying is going to happen soon. If I want to see stuff in 3-D, I'll just GO OUTSIDE. I don't need 3-D while I sit on my couch.

  2. Hey Gary,
I'd like to believe these things can phase out but as more and more people get detached from real world because of insecurities and being lost in their lives, they start to adopt new ones.

  3. Hey Gary,

I wish I could agree with you that Virtual Realities will phase out but I can't foresee that happening. People today have never been more insecure about themselves then ever before, from girls thinking they're too fat because of that "genius" Tyra Banks and kids thinking it's uncool to be smart. These people not only want to escape reality, but some actually need to in order to live somewhat of a healthy lifestyle, if it can be called that way. It'd be great if there wouldn't be a need for these worlds because the real world would gain back some valuable intellect back.
